Officially, Gardner-Webb returns eight starters from 2019 on the offensive side of the ball and nine on the defensive side.
All-Big South inside linebackers Darien Reynolds (Sr.) and Cade Hamilton (Jr.) headline the defensive returnees, along with All-Conference defensive lineman Janathian Turner (Jr.). Another All-Big South mainstay, end John Singleton (R-Jr.) is also expected to return at full speed following offseason surgery.
The offense is led by All-America candidates Izaiah Gathings (Jr.) and Devron Harper (So.), who each caught more than 50 passes last season. A.J. Moses (Sr.) returns with starting experience running the ball.
Gardner-Webb returns most of its key pieces on special teams, which will be anchored by an All-Conference candidate at long snapper in Will Mullins (Sr.).
New Head Coach Tre Lamb and his staff will work a hungry team through its paces, as the “Runnin' Bulldogs” return 15 men with starting experience on defense and 10 who have earned starting assignments on offense. This, strengthened by a very strong recruiting class, ensures that the Bulldogs will be a force to be reckoned with throughout the 2020 season.
